Trifolium repens 500 g

Productcode: 93225
The white clover (Trifolium repens) is a perennial plant from the butterfly flower family (Leguminosae), which owes its name to the predominantly white color of the inflorescences. It is a well-known species that occurs in grasslands, on lawns and on roadsides. The species designation repens is Latin for "creeping", a reference to the creeping stems. As with other types of clover, the leaf consists of three leaflets. Sometimes there are plants with four leaflets, the (four-leaf clover), which would bring good luck by picking or touching it.

White clover is a bare, low-growing, perennial herb that hibernates with creeping stems on the bottom.

The stems up to 50 cm long lie on the ground and carrots on the nodes. Only the tops have been established.

The leaf consists of three leaves, which are round to egg round. They can be fine-toothed or cool. Each leaf is 1-3 cm long and has a pale curved band across the entire width and about halfway the length of each leaf. The supporting leaves at the base of the petiole are flaky, turned into a tube around the stem (although that often tears eventually) and suddenly tapered towards the top.

The plant blooms from May or June to autumn with white flowers in a head-like cluster with a long stem. The flowers are bisexual and bilaterally symmetrical. The corolla is far beyond the bald chalice, which consists of five collapsed sepals that end in uneven oblong triangular slips. The corolla is white or later pink. There are five corrugated petals, which together have the characteristic anatomy known for most leguminous plants, with a flag, swords and a keel consisting of two leaves. The nine lower stamens are fused together, and nectar is secreted at the base of the upper stamens. After flowering the corolla does not fall off but withered brown. The flowers have the characteristic sweet scent of clover honey. The flowers are 0.8-1.3 cm long. The flowers wilt through pink to brown. The sepals are ten-nerved.

The fruit is a snow pea that is hidden in the brown and dried-out corolla, and usually contains 2-5 yellow and later brown-yellow heart-shaped seeds.
