Varrox evaporator

The Varrox evaporator consists of a heating pan, a support plate and 3 m of cable with two battery terminals. It has an output of 150 W. The power source is a rechargeable battery (car battery, 12 volts, 12 amps, capacity > 40 Ah). Treatment time After the hive has been sealed, the device should be connected to a car battery (12 V) for 2.5 minutes.

One battery terminal of the cable can be permanently connected to the power source. The unit can be switched on and off with the contact of the second battery terminal. For the heater to function, it does not matter whether the positive and negative poles are connected accordingly.

After switching off the Varrox evaporator, wait 2 minutes before pulling out the unit so that the oxalic acid vapour can settle. Then immediately close the flight hole tightly again and keep it closed for a further 10 minutes. After removal, cool the Varrox vaporiser briefly in a bucket of water. This prevents evaporation from starting during the next filling before the unit is reconnected to the battery and inserted into the next hive.
